A faith based service to remember lost loved ones. There will be music, a time prayer and Remembrance. Amy Benton, the co-founder and Vice President of the Joy-Hope Foundation will speak on “How to approach the bereaved”. There will be a special focus to honor those families served by Joy-Hope Foundation as well. Free and open to the public.

Nina Bennett, author, and other writers will share their poems of loss. Bennett is a healthcare professional with a subspecialty in bereavement issues and secondary traumatic stress. Her chapbook, Sound Effects, was published in 2013from Broadkill Press as part of their Key Poetry Series. Nina’s poem “Deja Vu” took third place in the Out & About magazine poetry contest, and her poem “They Do” was nominated for 2012 Best of the Net. Her articles and poetry have appeared in numerous print and online journals and anthologies. Nina is a contributing author to the Open to Hope Foundation, and a Co-Chair of the Delaware Grief Awareness Consortium. Proceeds from Nina’s book, Forgotten Tears, are donated to agencies dedicated to supporting bereaved families. Free and open to the public.

In recent news, that during the partial government shutdown, Fisher House Foundation has offered to cover the $100,000 payments that the government typically pays out to families within three days of a soldier’s death. This six week support group is being co-sponsored by the senior center and Seasons Hospice. For many, the holidays center on joy and celebration, but for those who have lost a loved one, it can be hard to focus on hope and the holidays magnify the feelings of loss. You do not need to grieve alone. Join us for supportive conversation and activities, to help you through the holiday season.
